The Corner 2017 NFL Mock Draft 3.0 - Final!

  1.  Cleveland Browns –  Myles Garrett –  DE –  Texas A&M
    • No change here, still a no brainer
  2.  San Francisco 49ers – Jamal Adams – S – LSU
    • A week ago I said I was falling in love with Adams as a top 3 pick.  This comes to fruition as new GM John Lynch takes the 2nd best player in the draft with the 2nd pick
  3.  Chicago Bears – Marshon Lattimore – CB – Ohio St
    • No chang here, Jonathan Allen is a possibility here but you still can not pass on a potential shutdown corner.
  4.  Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Fournette – RB – LSU
    • No change here either as the Coughlin regime 2.0 gets back to basics.  With many defensive free agent signings, and the injury issues of their current running back situation, the Fournette pick makes the Jags a significantly more dynamic offense....assuming Bortles rights the ship.
  5.  Tennessee Titans –  Soloman Thomas – DE – Stanford
    • The high rumor is that this pick is definitely up for the taking in a possible trade, but for the sake of continuity, Thomas is the pick to give this defense some spark.  I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas is the pick here for another team willing to trade up to get him.
  6.  New York Jets –  Mitch Trubisky – QB – North Carolina
    • No change here, the Jets give in to temptation.  I don't even think Trubisky is the best QB in the draft, but the Jets are a mess.  They have seemingly given up already on previous 4th and 2nd round picks in prior drafts, respectively.
  7.  Los Angeles Chargers – Malik Hooker – S – Ohio St
    • No change here, Secondary help, Secondary help, Secondary help!!  Philip Rivers could use some protection from the offensive line, but it may also help him to not have to put up 28 points every game to get a victory.  The Chargers take the 2nd best secondary player in the draft.
  8. Carolina Panthers – Jonathan Allen - DT  Alabama
    • I still see the Panthers going a number of directions here, but Dalvin Cook's stock is slipping greatly for a multitude of reasons, McCaffrey is too risky of a pick this high, and Allen is the best player in the draft available.
  9.  Cincinnati Bengals – Cam Robinson – OT – Alabama
    • No change here, maybe the worst offseason of any team in the NFL, they need to solidify the offensive line after losing Whitworth.  This helps the run game, and protects Andy Dalton.
  10.  Buffalo Bills – Deshaun Watson – QB – Clemson
    • I still feel like T\the first major shakeup comes when Buffalo takes arguably the last remaining 1st round QB talent in this draft.  I could see this being a spot for a big trade as Trubisky will likely be gone by this pick and Cleveland is getting anxious to finally get a QB.  Look for Houston to make a play for this pick.
  11.  New Orleans Saints – Marlon Humphrey – CB - Alabama
    • If Reuben Foster had not run into predraft issues, New Orleans would run to the podium with this pick.  However, New Orleans also needs reliable help on defense, and Foster at this point is not reliable.  Humphrey is the best DB available.
  12.  Cleveland Browns – Dalvin Cook  – RB – Florida St.
    • The likelihood that Cleveland stays in this slot is slim and none.  But Cleveland needs offensive firepower, I think Dalvin Cook could wind up with the Browns here or later.
  13.  Arizona Cardinals –  Reuben Foster – LB – Alabama
    • I said last week ff Foster falls, he doesn't get past this pick.  Arizona takes the risk and will get a quarterback of the future, hopefully in the 2nd round.
  14.  Philadelphia Eagles – Derek Barnett – DE – Tennessee
    • The Eagles simply take the best past rusher available in the draft.
  15.  Indianapolis Colts – Takkarist McKinley – OLB –  UCLA
    • I said last week that Taco Charlton looked like a perfect fit for this defensive bunch and that he reminds me of a taller Robert Mathis.  I was wrong.  McKinley has Robert Mathis written all over him after watching film.   The Colts primary focus should be on protecting Andrew Luck, but the offensive line depth in this draft is much to be desired.
  16.  Baltimore Ravens – TJ Watt – OLB – Wisconsin
    • A slight change here as the Ravens take a flyer on a player who crushed the combine and has a pedigree that can not be argued against. The Ravens get that edge rusher who fits the mold of a 3-4 OLB perfectly.  He has skills that need to be developed but with good coaching, can be a pro bowler in 2-3 years.
  17.  Washington Redskins – Christian McCaffrey – RB – Stanford
    • No change here as the Redskins have a need at RB and McCaffrey is a good fit for a team with a well designed offensive line and scheme.  Gruden will love giving this guy 15-20 touches a game.
  18.  Tennessee Titans – OJ Howard – TE – Alabama
    • Defense was the first choice.  Now it is time to give Mariota that dynamic player they have been lacking on the outside.  Howard is the pick even though Delanie Walker is a productive player at the same position.  This just gives Mariota another weapon on the other side of the field
  19.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Taco Charlton – DE – Michigan
    • An up and coming offense gets a boost on defense.  Charlton is the best defensive player available on the board.  Joe Mixon will be their next pick if he is available
  20.  Denver Broncos – Ryan Ramczyk – OT – Wisconsin - Stanford
    • The QB position may or may not be solidified in Denver.  But it doesn't matter who the QB is if he doesn't start to get some better protection.
  21.  Detroit Lions – Haasan Reddick – LB – Temple
    • The offense has fire power.  The defense gets maybe the best cover LB in the draft and any kind of added defense is good against the likes of Aaron Rodgers
  22. Miami Dolphins – Forrest Lamp – OG – Western Kentucky
    • No change here, Adam Gase and ownership need to do everything they can to protect their investment.  After spending heavily to bolster the defense last year and seeming to have some offensive firepower in the form of skill positions, its best to get some offensive line help.  Forrest Lamp, in my opinion, was the most impressive offensive lineman during pre draft workouts.
  23.  New York Giants – Garett Bolles – OT - Utah
    • No change here, the left tackle position last year was a disaster.  Flowers is much more suited on the right side of the line.  The Giants continue to try to build from the inside to protect their aging quarterback.
  24.  Oakland Raiders – Jarrad Davis – LB – Florida
    • The Raiders had a great year minus the fact that their season ended once Derek Carr's season ended due to injury.  Davis is a prototypical MLB that is a borderline 1st round talent.   But the Raiders have a need for a smart and effective leader in the middle.
  25.  Houston Texans – Pat Mahomes – QB – Texas Tech
    • Do not be surprised to see the Texans make a play to move up to guarantee themselves a QB early.  The most glaring need of any team during the offseason was even brighter once Tony Romo retired, leaving the Texans to pick up the pieces.  Last week I had the Texans taking Jabril Peppers, but that literally went up in smoke.
  26.  Seattle Seahawks – Obi Melifonwu – DB – UConn
    • My favorite player in the draft, he is a freak and the Seahawks are the type of team and in the position to take a player like this and make that player fit in their scheme.
  27.  Kansas City Chiefs – Malik McDowell – DT – Michigan St
    • No change here, there are many possibilities with this pick, including linebacker, but I think the Chiefs fill the void left by Dontari Poe and take the best available inside lineman.
  28.  Dallas Cowboys – Charles Harris – DE - Missouri
    • The Cowboys could also go CB here, but the draft is so deep with defensive backs, and Harris is the best DE available.
  29.  Green Bay Packers – Tre'Davious White – CB – LSU
    • Last week it was Conley.  But off the field issues have come into play and the Packers still need secondary help.
  30.  Pittsburgh Steelers – Mike Williams – WR – Clemson
    • I could easily see the Steelers take a QB here, with the mental rumblings of retirement from Big Ben.  Davis is a route running machine, not so much of a vertical threat, but could learn even from the other side in Antonio Brown
  31. Atlanta Falcons – Adoree Jackson – CB – USC
    • The Falcons take the best secondary player on the board.  It could be Jabril Peppers, but I think teams stay away from him in the 1st round all together
  32. New Orleans Saints – John Ross – WR  Washington
    • Brandin Cooks was traded to New England, this fills that void.  They improved their defense earlier, now it is time for Brees to get reloaded
